From Coastlines to Mountains: My Unforgettable USA Adventure
This year’s USA trip has been nothing short of extraordinary.
From the moment my feet touched American soil, it felt like I was stepping into a story that would unfold in vivid colour — waves crashing on golden shores, towering mountains watching over quiet valleys, and countless miles of road connecting one incredible moment to the next.
California Dreaming
Our journey took us from El Capitan to the iconic Santa Monica, with stops in places that felt like their own worlds. Malibu’s sweeping coastal views and Venice Beach’s eclectic energy were the perfect reminders of California’s free spirit. In Ventura, the sea breeze carried that unhurried, coastal calm you can’t help but fall in love with.
Santa Barbara greeted us with its Spanish-style architecture and palm-lined streets, while Pismo Beach was a place to slow down, breathe, and watch the sun melt into the horizon. Morro Bay, with its famous rock and serene harbour, felt like a secret pocket of peace — before the rugged beauty of Big Sur pulled us back into nature’s grandeur.
Wine Country & Winding Roads
From Big Sur’s cliffs, we ventured inland to Paso Robles, where rolling vineyards and warm sunshine reminded us why this is one of California’s wine capitals. The roads wound on, each turn revealing yet another reason to fall in love with this part of the world.
The Call of the Mountains
No trip to California feels complete without answering Yosemite’s call. Towering granite cliffs, ancient sequoias, and waterfalls tumbling down from impossible heights — Yosemite doesn’t just take your breath away, it steals your words too. Standing there, you can’t help but feel small, but in the most magical way.
Back Again… and Grateful
This adventure wasn’t just about the places — though from El Capitan to Santa Monica, Venice Beach to Ventura, Santa Barbara to Big Sur, I truly have been everywhere. It was about the people, the laughter, the shared meals, and the moments of silence where we simply soaked it all in.
I’ve hiked mountains, biked winding trails, surfed and bodyboarded along iconic beaches, and climbed wherever the rocks tempted me. I’ve met incredible people who have left an imprint on my heart, and shared intergenerational learning projects that have reminded me that connection truly knows no age.
As I pack my bags to head home — with Sweden just days away — I know that this trip will stay with me forever. The miles we’ve travelled, the places we’ve seen, and the joy we’ve found along the way have been the real treasures.
Until next year, California. You’ve been everything I dreamed of… and more. ❤️
