How we measure success at Wye Knot Community

2024, what a year it's been! It's the year we became a limited company, and it's the year we made a massive impact in the community we work with. Let me do a summary for you of 2024. Also, is there anything that you would like to know about any of our community projects, or is it something you would like to set up in your community? Please get in touch, as I would be happy to help! Our ethos for Wye Knot Community is sharing and caring and building up communities for all ages and abilities—nobody gets left out at Wye Knot Community!!

So, we have reached over 100 people living with dementia, delivering movement therapy for our intergenerational groups and forest schools, making a difference in their day-to-day lives and keeping their well-being as best we can. The work we do with dementia is one of the impactful workshops that we offer to the Herefordshire community. The difference we make with these and the feedback we get is outstanding, and the work that we do is truly honourable, kind, and caring, it's a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with amazing people and hear their stories. They're inspirational to me and all the team.

We look forward to 2025 with more amazing workshops. Now we are a limited company, we don't get as much funding as in previous years the only funding project we’re able to keep running is the intergenerational Play Group thanks to the Courtyard their support and passion for the  Hereford community is truly appreciated, I  would like to say a big thank you for their support.

I also would like to say thank you to all the homes and the communities that are willing to pay for these amazing life-changing sessions. A big thank you to Ven's Lane Care Home for understanding the importance of keeping active throughout the latest stages of life. They really understand what's most important for their residents, and we all love our working relationship and look forward to 2025!

Now, with the outdoor stuff, we've empowered every single woman who's been on one of our wilderness weekends, paddleboarding sessions, wilderness forest schools in the USA and Sweden wilderness week. We have changed lives and given women the power to believe they can do anything, as they can. They're strong mentally and physically, and they can survive; they can light their fire; they can cook on an open fire, and they can use a knife to make useful things. This attitude-filled, empowering female is the highlight of my summer! In fact, for 2025, we are even going to do winter survival wilderness empowering events. Hopefully, they take off!

I love working with women and teaching them bushcrafts, paddleboarding, canoeing, anything outdoorsy and a bit out there. I just love sharing my understanding of being an outdoors female, and I want everyone to feel empowered as I do. Again, sharing is caring, like the mother tree that spreads all nutrients to other trees that need it to help them grow and create a thriving forest. That's how I describe my work.

With my work in schools, I have been delivering forest school sessions in care schools for children who don't have the privilege of having accessible forest school sessions, which is the kind of crowd I like. I like people who don't get the opportunities to do things and are left out of society due to their backgrounds. So, if you're reading this and you are a school or a youth club, anything that has underprivileged children, please get in touch with me, as I'd happily put together a program for schools, as I believe every child should learn the fundamentals of fire skills, the way the world works, ecosystems, cooking skills, safety, knife skills, what lives are actually for, and to be connected to nature. Please get in touch if this is you!

I have had the incredible luck of having the most amazing staff, from Laura, who helps me with my intergenerational groups. She's kind, loving, and very knowledgeable when it comes to children's needs. I also have Annabel, who's helped me on my wilderness weekends. She is powerful, inspirational, and full of life. I've never met a woman like her, and I'm so lucky to have her on my team. Next year is going to be amazing with Annabel working with us on our wilderness adventures. We've got some fun things in the pipeline! Also, my survival female coach who's had 23 years of survival training, Lou, we all love you! Everyone who's met you says how amazing you are, and you are so inspiring. I couldn't do my job without you. I have learnt so much from you. You are an asset to the Wye Knot Community, and I look forward to learning more from you, my guru. For our website and all the stuff I have no clue about, we have a wonderful Sophie from Social Labs. She gets it, she's community-based, and she knows what I'm trying to do without saying too much. She knows how busy I am and works around me. I couldn't have done anything without having this in place, and I couldn't have done it without you, Sophie, so a big thank you. You truly are an amazing woman, and I'm so lucky to have you on board. I look forward to 2025!

Also, I can't leave this post without mentioning my new little sister Anja from Sweden. I worked with Anja for a week in Sweden on a wilderness women's adventure, and I fell in love with her straight away—her enthusiasm kindness and gentleness, the way she sees the world. I'm looking forward to working next year in Sweden, and hopefully, she'll come to the UK and do some work for me, as she's truly an amazing human being. We all have different strengths. That's what makes teamwork, and working together with this team, I'm truly lucky, I know it’s very unprofessional, but I love all my stuff.

Again, all the teams are females. I have had a great influence on some male workers. I'm just going to mention them briefly, as they are amazing in their own right. I want to say a big thank you to Matt, the founder of Sweden Outdoor Coaching. You gave me the spark that lit my fire back when I met you in 2023. I love working with you. I love how kind you are and how much you love the world as much as I do. You see it like I see it, where the world comes first and nature comes first. I'd like to say a big thank you to Ash from Breath to Bridges and Andy from You Turn Back to Basics. Again, two inspiring gentlemen I've met along my way and hopefully will have a wonderful working relationship with for 2025 and get some cool things out there!

I guess I should mention a bit of a personal note of what I've achieved in 2024. This year has been a whirlwind, as you can see. I've been very busy with my business and connecting communities. I've also started the journey of training to become a WRSAR search and rescue technician volunteer. Hopefully, I will qualify in March 2025. Will keep you updated on this process. I love volunteering my time to needed courses!

In summary

, 2024, I'm proud of everything Wye Knot Community has done its been a big success and giving people happiness.

Thank you, everybody, for your support this year. I'm looking forward to 2025.
