Taxes small businesses

This journey of building my own business?

It’s been…intense. From initial excitement to unexpected hurdles, I've learned that having a dream is just the beginning. Turning it into reality? That requires something more. It demands resilience – the ability to get back up after every stumble. It means embracing failure, not fearing it, because every 'failure' is a lesson learned. I’ve realised that you don’t have to be some kind of superhuman to do this, you just have to keep going. But I also know I could not have got this far without my support network and those who believe in me.

So, if you’re out there chasing your dream, remember these things: Your idea is valid. Your resilience will be tested, but it will grow. And your support network.

They’re your lifeline. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Let's make our dreams a reality, together.

And speaking of hurdles, the upcoming 2025-2026 tax increases in the UK are posing a significant threat to the survival of my small business. Frankly, I'm facing a substantial, unexpected tax bill that I simply cannot absorb without drastic measures. As someone who poured their heart and soul into building this venture, the reality is stark: I cannot afford to hire any new staff, and I'm looking at a significant loss.

This new tax burden is forcing me to find additional work, just to cover the extra costs. It's not about expansion anymore; it's about survival. This is a devastating blow, especially as my business is focused on supporting the community through intergenerational programs and movement therapy empowering outdoor adventures

. It’s not just about profit; it’s about providing essential services and fostering connections.

The impact of these tax changes is deeply concerning for small businesses like mine across Herefordshire and the UK. We're the backbone of the local economy, and these increases are putting us in an incredibly vulnerable position.

Despite this, I refuse to give up. I plan to expand my services, offering more work opportunities while continuing to meet community needs. This means exploring more intergenerational forest school programs and expanding movement therapy sessions. I'm committed to finding sustainable solutions that benefit Herefordshire year-round, not just seasonally.

If you have ideas or see a need in our community, please reach out. I need your support and collaboration now more than ever. I'm ready to put my brain to work and find innovative ways to navigate this challenge. Watch this space – I won’t let this tax bill derail my mission. I’m determined to keep connecting our community and making a positive impact. Because at the end of the day, that’s what this is all about.

And to all the other small businesses out there facing similar challenges, please know you’re not alone. This tax increase is a crushing blow, and many of us are struggling to see a way forward. If you’re struggling, reach out. Let’s support each other, share resources, and find ways to navigate these tough times together. We need to advocate for policies that support small businesses, not stifle them. We need to make our voices heard.
